I want to drill a hole small enough to fit a small LED bulb on the sides of the center console near the shifter. I want to be able to hit a button and turn it on and off. Is it possible to hook it up to the power source that powers the shifter lights?

the lights were meant to light up the foot space. There's no room under the dash to stick something to and have it light up enough. the lights would be placed next to the screws by the cup holders. I.E. on the sides.

Yes it is possible. Wire it to your 12V battery power and have a wire to a switch you buy at an autozone and [ut the switch on the piece on your armrest or delete armrest. I went ghetto and got my self some stick lights from bed bath and beyond and stuck em under the wheel and pass glove box. They arent visible and provides pletny of light. b***h to press em everytimne though ahah

yes it possible. its just a matter of installing a switch and some led lights? its basic. tap the power from the 12v source under your dash and run your wires.

What I'm asking is, can I use the power from the shifter indicator lights to light LEDs?
If they are 12v, yes you can. I don't understand why 2 people have said it isn't possible. That would be the same thing as tapping into your running lights, dash lights, etc. If the shift console lights come on with the running lights you are just tapping into that system.

It is the same thing as tapping into the running lights to run fog lights.

You could run it so they come on every time the dash/console lights are on or you could use that wire to power the switch and switch them on and off when you want.

I am curious as to why those that said it can't work say that. To those that said it, please comment.

I guess, I would need to know exactly what you are meaning by shifter indicator lights. Do you have an auto? Do you mean the lights that come on when you turn the running lights on?
