i guess this swap is getting a lot easier..

i talked to one of my friends about it and i guess there are jumper harnesses and hasport makes mounts and everything for it, but u either have to cut ur stock hood or section the oil pan.

either way, its gonna cost a lot. the engine itself is relatively cheap, but for a v6 and 3.2 liters, why the f**k not do it? :dunno:

In regards to cutting the stock hood there was a guy on HT that swapped a J into his ITR and didn't have to cut the hood. I forget exactly how he did it, but it's possible

I think the ITR had a lower clearance intake manifold and took the skeleton off of his hood and he got it to fit..

I also beleive there is something you dont necessarily 'need' and they remove that to allow the hood to close.

Theres a local who has one in his db8 and its pretty quick..

Because it weighs 270lbs without a tranny.

I full H22 drivetrain is 210lbs
B series about 190lbs
D series 185lbs

It depends on the model of the J though, imho, it's practical, it drives, it looks quick, and it's a V6. If it's just the regular J30, it only weighs 250 but only has 200HP, but if it's the J35Z3, it's pushing 270HP and 250LB/s of torque. It might cost alot of money to swap it over, which makes it not worth it for me, because I could just build a B and have more power than the J series.

You're also comparing weights between two types of completely different engines, the ones you listed are 4 cylinders, and then comparing them to a V6. Of course it's going to weigh more.

He asked about practicality. The weight/size limits the practicality in a civic.

To what extent? If the power is there to back up the weight side of the equation, I don't see why it wouldn't be practical. Size, sure, you have to cut a huge hole in you hood so it can close, that's impractical, but the weight isn't as much of an issue.
