I heard this seems to only be affecting the older "fat" PS3's. The slim PS3's are ok.

It doesn't say that you can't play all games. Just those that need to be logged in. There are a lot of users that don't even log in, myself included.

It is an error that has to do with the psn. It isn't like it bricks the ps3 or anything. Some people seem to be blowing it way out of proportion.

xbox is better
tell that to the 54.2% of people that have owned/own one and cant play due to red ring of death. compared to our 10%

it only affects the older ones like voltio said and sony says this should be hotfixed by tomorrow

I've had red ring... Twice.... I also own a PS3

AND I still think 360 is 10x better than the ps3

judgment based solely on games?

Judgment based on the overall package.

However, games are the big sway point for me. PS3 does not have the game selection... and when it comes to dual platform games, most of them do not look any better on the PS3 despite being the more powerful system.

Aside from the blu ray player (which I have yet to use... not a big movie watcher at home.. and I don't own any blu rays), I don't really see any advantages the PS3 has over the box.

well i guess, as with pretty much everything, this debate depends on what you expect out of the product.

to me paying $300 for a product that has a 50% chance to fail, only to have to pay another $130 to get it fixed (if you dont have the ms warranty) is very unreasonable. dont get me wrong, i wanted a 360 and waited 2 years for xbox to fix their RROD problem, it didnt happen.

on the bright side, when the XBOX360 melts down and starts shaking, you place it on your lap and get a free "happy ending"... PS3 can't touch that

lol Voltio.

See, I get my RROD fixed for $20 in one hour while I watch from a local craigslister and get a 6 month warranty with it. So RROD really isn't an issue for me.

and even if it were, twice in 4.5 years isn't too shabby.. considering I went through 4 ps2s.
