270 without a tranny, even a D-series tranny is something like 90lbs. You're talking 350lbs at best hanging in front of the front axles. That doesn't bode well for handling at all (early 90's Audi anybody) and if you can get the same power in a lighter form then I don't know why you wouldn't.

If its a drag car then sure why not.

Oh ok, my bad, I was reading that wrong, I thought you were meaning the 270 was WITH the tranny, seemed light to me, but never know. My bad.

It's one of those projects that nickle and dimes you to death.

what you mean?
There's some expensive big parts, which everyone accounts for in their budget, but it's the multiple little things that cost a few dollars that you have to get several times, or multiples of that kill the budget.

When I fixed my Mustang after the wreck, almost half of my budget went to little small things that I never thought about.

Is this going to turn into another pretty show only swap like the K?

I'd do it if i had the motor just sitting there. Start buying the little odds and ends, plus tranny. It's been done enough that there are plenty of places that support the swap and have what you need to get the job done.
