I have a 98 lx 4dr with D16Y7 manual. It doesnt say v-tec on it, i have wanted to know if it is or not. some people have told me to see if it has a v-tec solinoid(dont know where that is located). so what is the easiest or best way to tell if it is or not?

It's not vtec. Vtec solenoid is located right next to your distributor, its a little cylinder-looking thing

Easy way to under stand it, D16Y7, D-series, 1.6L, Y7 = No vtak.. Y8 = vtak

The only Civic that come with vtec are the ex's (SOHC) and the Si's or SiR's (DOHC). At least that I know of.

like Szady said. It can be if you do a "mini-me" swap. You put the Y8 head and intake manifold on. I dont know much about the swap but i have a Y7 and i was going to do this to mine. Look it up on google and do some research
