im just lookin for some power on a budget and thought maybe about buying this kit for now but then upgrade as i can. i wont just throw this on my car and f**k stuff up so i need some help.

if your gonna buy the kit and then replace parts anyway, you might as well piece together your own kit
i had a cousin do that(didnt listen to me) and after he bought a new, bov, turbo manifold, wastegate, had to ditch the downpipe it came with cause it didnt fit and the welds were crappy, he spent as much as he would've if he just pieced together a kit.

there are people who use the turbo kits off ebay and they are fine..hit and miss i guess..usually people just get the turbo and use an oil restrictor, pair it with a cast iron manifold(also found on ebay)

personally i'd save up money and get higher quality parts but remember in the end..its all about the TUNE

True cant complain, $1200 for a civic aint bad at all.
What is your budget for the motor? if you want a b series motor i'd get that done and over with first.
Then after you get your motor, if the budget allows, piece together a kit..take your time on piecing together a kit if your on a budget(hard but its best because you might over spend)

im a big supporter of doing it right the 1st time. too may horror stories of having to replace parts that take a s**t. If you buy a pre made kit from go-autoworks, you know everything will fit the 1st time and will hold up.

ebay kits are junk, and im not a fan of used parts.

i got a d16y8 now. but what are the advantages/differences between b16 b18 b20 and no i dont mean litre (1.6, 1.8, 2.0)size. i know that. but i mean is it all preferance between them? advantages of one to the other. i dont ever plan on sellin my civ. when i was lookin at swaps i was lookin at b20 but idk thats why i was askin.
why wouldnt i want vtec?

go autoworks is def the way i think im gonna go if i turbo anything i get.
if i swap ill probably do everything else(exterior, interior, ie) then save like crazy for the swap no clue on swap budget. idea on how much?

if i keep my d-series my budget is about 2k-3k to spend it over time. but then i gotta swap the tranny. tranny swap suggestion? which trans si? what yr? i know there prob a thread about it. i just wanna know.

i wanna get around 3-400 hp if more great but i want it to run safely around 300

2slo i wish i lived in oregon still id hit u up to help me haha.

pretty much the smaller the engine, the faster it can spin. most honda engines dont have torque. which is what moves the car.

as you move up the line, different engine are set up differently. theres where you will need to do research and finding out what platform u would like.

B20s have great torque numbers and its what i use (price is also alot cheaper) but they are thin in the sleeves and you have to have a great tune on boost.

but, figure out your HP/TQ goal. 300 hp is alot for a daily driver and you wont even keep traction, so set a realistic goal for yourself. then build from there.

listen to this guyhe is giving good advice. i just put down 273 on a fith gear pull and still spun them at full boost. this is due to the si trans i have. so if your gonna do a swap and boost get a gsr tranny or even better get an Ls trans. sweet for the boostheads. but hey its fun as hell so do what ya want pimp and gl

^^ remember, high torqe and short gears = wheel spin. I use the LS trans for longer gears. but everyone has their own opinions. this is my set up and im pretty happy.. well, till i break something.

i would say go ls vtec u can build a b18 and get an sir head and then go get type r valves pistons conecting rods and cam and maby crank if u wont and boost it and make 250 300 no problem but you will spin and go no where i would just go n/a then you wont spin so much and u will move to just gunna cost a little more

I'm going to turbo my Z6 and I'm curious what all i need to make sure and get. I'm not necesarily going to get an Ebay kit, but I'm curious if i DID get this kit;

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/D15-D16-STAINLESS-TURBO-KIT-CIVIC-SI-COUPE-92-93-94-95_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem27abc9ea6aQQitemZ170385861226QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

is there anything missing from the kit that i would have to get in order to complete a turbo setup?
other than tuning it, its all there..
but you might spend about the same amount as the kit itself replacing the manifold, the downpipe, the wastegate, the bov, and who knows what else..for parts that wont leak air and break on you

Are these ebay parts REALLY that cheap? I have an ebay header and the thing works great, no cracks or leaks... or is it just hit and miss with these guys? Also what about my exhaust? I hear you have to get a "turbo" exhaust?
