maybe loose ground?
could've had factory alarm, and the ground for the siren is now loose....look in the bay.. usually around the firewall for a siren, check for grounds

if you hold the option and the lock button at the same time for 3 seconds or so, the beeping/honking feature is turned on/off

Interesting. I wasn't aware that this could be done. Where did you learn this? Is it in the owner's manual? The 99-00 Civic keyless remote does not have an option button. Does this mean the honking feature cannot be changed on these models?

Mine doesn't say anything about a beep on the back of my 2000 civic. It just says..
Push once - Drivers
Push twice - All doors
and then some random codes

EXs came with keyless. You probably just need to buy a remote.

thats what i thought, now do you know how about i would go about getting remote? and wouldn't it have to be programed to my car?
The remotes are available online or from Honda. Buy one for a 99-00 Civic. You program the remote after it arrives. It's a simple procedure. Instructions come with the remote.

So did anyone figure out how to turn the beeping off for a 99-00 honda civic? it annoys the hell out of me, and I looked in my owners manual over lunch.. nothing about it.

From what I can tell, there's no option to change it.

Isn't there a way to take out the beeping noise when you have your door open?

How much money do you have?:D

The beeper is part of the integrated control unit plugged into the rear of the dash fuse box. The beeper is a reminder for you to put on your seat belt and to take the key out of the ignition when you leave the car. I am sworn by an oath to the Civic gods not to tell members how to disable safety devices.=)
