Hey Tony, Just to let you know, don't expect that Acer Aspire to last. I babied my Aspire and the motherboard died within a month out of warranty. Be careful and back everything up.

Anyways, I'm screwed, I let my friend borrow $100 for rent. He says he'd pay me back within 2 days. My bank account is overdrawn, so I have no money and he won't pick up the phone.
Acer is # 3 computer manufacturer in the world, Tony has nothing to worry about just because you had bad luck. But your optimism is encouraging!

Trust me Shane, I know. I am a computer geek after all. I'm just saying to not expect it to last long. I may have had bad luck but I babied that thing from the day I bought it til the day it died. I haven't babied my new Toshiba laptop and it still works perfectly.

Not necessarily, It worked like a charm until it died.

Side note: Have you ever had a electronic device still perform like new once out of warranty. Probably not. Why, you may ask, because companies design them to only last for the warranty period. That's how they get you to keep buying more of their products.

doesn't matter how much you took "care" of it. it was defective from the factory or you caused to become defective. there is no other way dude. again, it was either f**ked up before you touched it or your f**ked it up..

I don't want to get in an argument about this, but I'm saying that it was designed to fail one way or another when the warranty is expired, so don't think it's gonna work for a long time.

I am completely serious.
i meant laptops, phones, small stuff.

we're debating.

I'm saying that it was designed to fail one way or another
products aren't design with intentions to fail.

Lol. nevermind.

but I'm saying that it was designed to fail one way or another when the warranty is expired,
hold up a second.. so you believe that .. once the warranty is over, the design intent changes? :rolf:

I'm really not worried about it. Ive bought tons of s**t that still works to this day well out of warranty. phones etc.

The only thing that has ever taken a s**t on me was my 6 year old dell that just died.

But that sucks if it happened to you. Both Shane and I worked for CDW for years, and Shane is still in IT, and we've never heard anything out of the ordinary when it comes to Acer... It was your bad luck...

I've been started selling electronics in 1997 when you were 7so lets agree to disagree.

No matter who's right no use bashing Tony's new computer man, come one, somethings whether you believe it yourself are better left to yourself. Didn't you learn that in high-school?

the design intent from the start is for it to last until the warranty expires.

im not bashing his computer, im just saying to watch out and be careful.

let me know what would be good lead time, we can work off of that.
ASAP. The more advance I have, the better. I think Annie would come too. Maybe not to the meet, but to go visit her friends.

I forget, what month does is usually happen?

Hey Tony(I like the things you do! lol), got a couple questions about your Forester.
1. How much horse was it pushing when it was stock?
2. How much money have you invested to make it what it is now?

i can attest that the usable lifespan of most products in the market these days has greatly diminished in comparison to that of products from 20+ years ago.
