So I have an extra hood for my 91 Civic hatchback......Car's white and the hood is red.

I planned on painting it and putting it on.

Now I am thinking why not do a custom mod. I want to do a hood scoop or something sweet looking.

I am not a huge fan of the regular scoop that everyone and there brother has on tuners so I figured I would turn to you guys.

What I am asking for:

some ideas

if you have them pictures too

Let's make this hood freaking sweet and one of a kind!

Hood scoops are kind of rice. Not even kind of, when i see civics around where i live with hood scoops i just laugh. imo i would leave it how it is, repaint it and slap it on.

scoops really only look good if theres something under the hood that warrants the scoop...

like a subaru... my car has a hood scoop... although its non turbo... it is factory... and has vents too..

if you decide to swap a WRX or STi motor in the car... then you could put a scoop on it.. and it would be functional..

like this guy...

Here is one I like minus the side vents

The center one IS a vent, not a scoop. A scoop is designed to scoop air while vents are designed to vent air from under the hood. The center vent appears to be there to vent hot air from the radiator out of the engine bay.

I say go for it. That type of vent and the vent on the sides look good. Keeping it "stock and clean" is just a guarantee that your civic will look like everyone else's civic. Be different. I know it's hard to be different when you drive a civic, but that just means you have to be more creative. Sorry to the guys that are into the whole stock and clean look, but you guys all look the same, just in different colors... like skittles...

I agree with you.....You do one thing like that and it's considered rice!

I remember back when rice was like the huge wings of the trunk, body kit seperate color as the car, etc

My mind only screams "rice" when I hear a crappy exhaust... The ones that sound like a runaway weedwacker... I really like side vents on a hood... That beamer hood is mighty nice..
