i have an hp pavilion dv9000 laptop. i installed windows 7 a couple months ago and installed norton 360 shortly after, or so i thought. and now i have all of these windows popping up saying that some file is infected. so i bought norton 360 and go to install it and it says that the installation software is infected and it wont let me install it. does anyone have any advice or anything they can suggest to fix this problem? thanks in advance.

Our shitty comps at work always get hacked by the people after hours and we get tones of viruses and everything. I ended up finding this and it clears them out great.

to a complete scan, then i think you should be able to do a scan on start up. Do those and you should be cleaned out.

Save all your files that are needed. Reload windows 7, along with norton and your others, should have a fresh running laptop

i think im going to take it into staples either tonight or tomorrow and have them switch it back to vista. 7 was nice but i got it from a friend so it wasnt a "genuine" version on mine. and they dont have all of the drivers i need for the graphics. and its getting worse. wont let me open anything but firefox.

well, whatever u decide to do, drop norton, its useless and f**ks with ur computer. Get Avast, it's free and way better.

ive used it for 3 years, not a single virus. within the first week of owning norton 360, my computer got infected three seperate times. plus avast updates several times a day. it even tells u everything with Microsoft Sam.

Norton programs are HORRIBLE and complete system hogs.

Try this:

Download Spybot Search & Destroy. Run it and delete anything it picks up.

Then download Ad-Aware (free) and run that.

If you can't run Spybot or adaware or still have problems for whatever reason, download HijackTHIS and post a log here.

aannddd.. stay away from Norton. I highly recommend Kaspersky software. It has hourly updates, not even close to a system hog, and overall is just a better program.

Can you post a screenshot of what you see when the window pops up.

i would but it wont let me open paint. and ive already bought norton for another year so ill use it for another year. ive had norton 360 for 2 years and never had any problems, but when i switched to windows 7 i never finished the norton instalation right and got the virus. will be doing a system recovery tonight. hoping to get vista back.

and i dont really care if its a system hog, i dont really need excesive performance out of it, my moms 7 year old desktop f**ks the internet speed over anyway. and the extent of the programs i am running is firefox, and itunes. dont have my autocad on it anymore, and havent put my cs3 collection on it since the windows 7 update. and dont even know how to use the photoshop yet. so norton works for me, as does vista.

I'd say keep Windows 7 not going back to Vista
