Wow that s**t was well put o.O

Look I've never-ever payed for a song online, Especially back when i would cut school just to download song's from Napster on my Dial-up connection and POS computer. What i can say i have paid for is similar to the above comment's, example:

I LOVE the WU-Tang Clan- I have Legally bought ALL of their albums all because their music feed's my soul, i love it therefore i cop. Only exception i give to Buying music.

200 bucks a month for music? no. i don't think so. i easily have over 10,000 song's on my iTouch, Laptop and Desktop combined (Different ones) Does it suck for the Artist? Yes to an extent.

I also believe i am being a hypocrite because I myself am recording Artist that hopes to get paid nicely enough to make a good living out of it, But with albums not being bought how can i expect that?

Well bottom line is from my experience CD's and track's are to get your name out there, it doesn't matter if your getting paid for them because at the end of the day YOU have to be that business Mastermind in your own right that is going to be thinking outside, inside, across, under the box. To sell out Tour's, Merchandise, get donations and like i said GET YOUR NAME OUT THERE.

If you can do that you will develop fan's (Given your music is good and you have Lyrical savageness like me hehe) that will come see you no matter what and always keep your mind relevant when it comes to making music.

Bottom line is: If you are an artist Money come's second, Passion comes First. I'd rather be working at a amazing bar performing with steady pay AND working as a photographer for other means and be in the spotlight forever, than to be in the Industry with a contract making quick money, then be forgotten just like the other POS "Artist" out there.

I wonder if its "illegal" to buy a CD to listen to it for awhile... then when you get bored of it sell it for a few bucks on ebay. Of course this is when i make the memory that I BOUGHT on MY computer create a mirror image. So everything is paid for..

Does any of that make sense?

Not necessarily "illegal", but I am sure there are people that say that it is wrong, because the artist or record company doesn't get anything off that sale. I don't understand the logic though. It could go the same as selling old cds, movies, and furniture at a garage sale. No one seems to be against garage sales, but they will complain about eBay.

On the same note there are tons of people that are against used video game stores for that reason. They say that the developers don't get a cut off the used game profits, so it is wrong to do it. I'm sorry but if I am unsure about a game because of all the bogus games that are over hyped, I will wait until it goes to half the price used.

The pirate bay is based in Sweden where U.S. piracy and copyright laws don't apply. They have a whole section dedicated to showing threatening letters from Microsoft, Dreamworks, Warner Brothers, etc. They also respond to most of them and post the letters.

The site was shut down last week because of an injunction against their bandwidth provider. It didn't last and the site is back up.

I'll try to elaborate on my logic a little with the help from your "used video game stores." If i buy a CD, download it on my computer, then sell it back... then I'm "stealing" compared to copyright laws. Pay 20, sell it for 10, I only paid for 10 songs. ($1per song) So should I delete 10 songs? And then on after... the record companies make nothing off of that used CD. So they make nothing from "used CD's" and make nothing from illegal downloads.

It has been a long day and I am very tired so my logic could be flawed, but where does it end? What about buying a car and 3 years later selling it for 75% of what you paid for it?

If I am buying games, beating them, and selling them on eBay for 80% of what I paid for them I don't see where that is stealing? This is the claim that people have said to me about used game stores.

My thoughts on the game store thing are as follows.

Game gets bought for $60. Company X makes about 70% of that profit. User goes online with game plays, maybe buys upgraded content (track packs, new maps, etc.) company X profits off of this. User finishes game, gets $20 (if you're lucky) by selling to game stop. Game stop re sells game for $40. Game stop makes all profits off second sale, company X does not. When it's all said and done, two companies are making great $$ on the selling of them used or not. It's definitely not stealing in the slightest.

I used your used video game store thing and switched it to CD's since they also sell used CD's. Obviously its different for games since you cannot copy them like CD's I'm just pointing out that downloading online is no different then used stores. One person buys CD and the Record Companies make that amount... then everyone else gets basically a copy since the person who originally bought it put it on his computer.

Biggest reason why singers and rappers cry about people who download music for free is cause their bitches when whas the last time this niggas and punk as bitches gave a f**k about loosing a lil money cause no matter what they are still making a s**t load of money if I was getting paid 80m a year and drop to 60m cause people were downloading my s**t illegally I keep my mouth shut because I'm still making the mills I wasent making back in the days when I was living in the hood

while EVERYONE says it does not hurt the artist I guess time will tell..
I don't think its right to take someone's ART without paying for it.. that doesn't mean I have never downloaded music... but just be logical about it...

you are selling a product.. in this case it is music.. you buy the music so you can hear it.. if you circumvent the purchase, but still get to enjoy the listening... you are basically stealing the music..

music is produced...
it is available for purchase...
you acquire it without purchasing it..

taking something without paying for it IS stealing.. you can sit and justify it all you want.. but you ARE stealing the music..
