OC, dont get me wrong, you have a GREAT point, and used examples of it and explained it very well. Only thing is, this is just discussing it. Just like Communism, it looks GREAT on paper, but rarely works.

My issue is that it (at best) inconveniences the innocent. At worst it leads to false accusations against innocents of the same race.

Yes, it makes sense to racially profile, but ethically, I believe it is immoral. I don't want to be made late for work because a white guy committed a crime... I'm a white guy... and a cop pulled me over because, hell, I'm white. It might be me! Meanwhile, I'm inconvenienced and my boss is pissed at me, even though I'm completely innocent. Now what if this starts happening twice a week, or even twice a month? Now I have to be made late to my work twice a month, because of the color of my skin.

To give a more extreme example. We could just execute every suspect in every crime. It makes sense. Suspects are more likely to be criminals than non-suspects. If we execute them all, we'll probably stop crime. However, it fails to protect those who are innocent.
you are reading into profiling to an extreme degree.. police do not pull people over for being black.. or brown.. or white... but IF they make a legitimate stop.. and the persons ethnicity raises a red flag.. the officer SHOULD ask questions..

i mean come on you have seen it on cops a MILLION times..

non-white inner city GHETTO.. i mean ghetto ghetto.. like dirty as f**k..
cop observes a white guy just sitting in his car in a park at night..
he pulls up to question him since the park is technically closed..
the cop KNOWS that a white guy in a nice car sitting in a park in a very ghetto area is LIKELY up to no good..
"what are you doing here..." "oh nothing just you know stopping for a minutes" "you don't have any drugs on you do you?" "oh no no.." and so on..
next thing the guy is out of the car in handcuffs and there are 4 baggies of crack on the hood of the cruiser..
why? because clean cut white guys.. don't GENERALLY go into the ghetto and just hang out.. sure.. it happens.. but its pretty unusual.. so the cop KNOWS.. based solely on time, place, and ETHNICITY that something is up.. the white guy is a criminal and obviously buying drugs.. does this mean that ALL white people are bad and should be assumed to be druggies.. NO...but this does mean in the right context they might be... white upper class gated community.. random black guy wondering through a backyard.. chances are... the point is yeah i KNOW... you can not COMPLETELY judge someone based solely on appearance.. but you CAN get a REAL good idea..

I agree with the situations you stated above. But cops DO pull people over just for being black, brown, white, etc. It happens. I thought you were supporting this. That was the source of my confusion.

while i do NOT support pulling people over JUST due to the color of their skin.. i DO support using it as one of the MANY indicators that help police investigate..

LEGAL Mexican-American gets pulled over close to the border... car registered to a friend.. cop asks for ID.. he has none.. i FULLY support the assumption that he MIGHT be here illegally and FULLY support further investigation before releasing him.. solution? CARRY YOUR ID..

Yea it would be great to see him come back and stick to his guns. I think he is just like all the other Mexicants who throw s**t out there just for the hell of it, hoping they get sympathy and success.
