I was wondering what goes into the A/C system when recharging it?? I tried searching for the answer but couldn't find it.

Thanks

The 96 Civic uses R134a refrigerant. But don't add any unless you have measured high and low pressures and know it's low.

DO you know what the pressures should read..

Dumb question... I'm sure you do know.

Could you let me know what they should be.

Let A/C run for 10 minutes, and then hold the idle speed at 1500 rpm on an approximately 80F day in the shade:

Low side 22-36 psi
High side 220-295 psi

How much goes in the system??

Thanks again
Enough until the pressure inside the system is where it should be. Recharge the low pressure side and use a gauge while doing this to get an accurate measurement of psi inside the line. Charging the high side line may cause the can of refrigerant to explode.

If you recover all of the existing refrigerant, then add 21.1 - 22.9 ounces of R134a. Otherwise, you need to go by the refrigerant pressures.
