you should just pick up a cheap loaded box from wallmart they usually come with a amp and wiring kit.

The problem you are going to run into is the OHM difference..Home systems are set differently, i know car audio is usually 4 or 2 ohms, and to be honest I don't know what home theatres are but I do know it's like 8 or 9...

Anyone else know exactly what the ohm rating is on home theatres???

I really don't know how well or for how long it would work...I would just drop like $100 on a small sub from Wal-mart or something if you just want a lil bump and nothin crazy..

You are going to have to buy an inverter for the power. It needs to be converted from Alternating Current (AC) to Direct Current (DC).

By the time you spend the money on that you might as well have gone with a sub/box/amp combo. If money is a problem, search craigslist. People are offing stuff like crazy to pay bills. Sad, but true.

Honestly, I wouldn't even mess with it. When you cheap out, you end up doing it all over again in the future and it costs you twice as much as it would have; had you done it right in the first place.

+1

I've bought opened box retail subs, craigslist amps and both off friends an it always turns out to be s**t. My advice is to buy a new setup, search for deals. I know frye's is getting rid of old inventory right now.
