I bought a EJ civic cx With 272,000 miles on it and have been having over heating problems. The reason why I bought in its current condition was cause its a CX. The stupid kid that owned it got into a accident with it and bangedup the front of the car. When I started to check why it was over heating, there was no thermostat in the housing and no antifreeze in the radiator. I recently changed the themostat and directly connected the fan to keep the engine cool. But it still losing coolant and Im pretty sure between the radiator having a hole somewere and the head gasket being gone that shuold be the problem.[/I]

My point is there are plenty of us out there with blown head gasket !

Pressure test the cooling system to identify any leaks. Repair the leaks, bleed the system, and go from there. Who knows, if you are lucky, the head gasket is not blown. Good luck.

Stay on topic. I don't give a s**t what color these posts are in. THERE'S A REASON YOU CAN CHANGE COLORS. And NOTHING against the rules.

If you don;t like it. DON'T CLICK IT. Any more arguing will get you a nice shiny brand new infraction.

Well I've been working hard on gettting this car together despite my problems that happen arising latley. But I have purchse a water pump and comfimed that my water pump has gone to crap. Looking froward to replace my water pump hopefully this weekend, My next venture is to find a complete exhaust system for the car. If anybody got any leads on the system feel free to let me know.

Fixed Exhaust

I currently have been having problems with my exhaust since I had a couple of holes in resonator pipe. This problem was causing serious power loss and besides that alot of attention from the police! However If ixed the the problem by bying a new resonator pipe and a buddy of mines was nice enough to give me his greddy exhaust. But It still seems like Im having some power loss issues. Especially when Im starting to take off from a dead stop. Ill be looking forward to maybe buying a new exhaust system.

im gonna say that your "power loss" is due to the fact that you are driving a civic cx. a hole in an exhaust system will not cause you to have power loss. how did the water pump install go? did you do a new timing belt while you were at it?

Well Ill answer your question, No I did not change my timing belt but I will next weekend. The water pump is finally changed and the over heating has stopped (Thank God!). I now its a pleasure to drive around and finally travel great distances with over heating. I also was helped by my buddy Chris who has been great helping me out rebuild my civic, he donated a resonator pipe which I needed to fix my exhaust leak.

In the process a muffler was also needed since the orginal muffler was deterorated completely, I accually purchased a APC muffler with work awasome rite now with this combonation. I will be updating my page more with pics soon.

yo i got the same problem with the over heating. i took it to my old mechanic and all he did was put a head gasket in. which really made no sense. but for a while it didn't over heat anymore. now it started overheating again and i can't figure out what it could be.

Its definitlry your water pump for sure, like I had explained On this page I was seriously over heating despite my head gasket change. As soon I changed the water pump and bleed the radiator I was good, Also Im not running anti frezze neither. H2O is what im currently using and not one sign of high temprature. All the work was done myself, Listen to these cats on this site, they know what their talking about thats how I was able to change my water pump and solve this problem.
