This guy that graduated from my highschool a couple years ago was at a friend's house that happened to be right next to my uncles house, he wandered off outside then went to my uncles front door and started beating on the door swearing up and down it was his friend's house. He was piss drunk and my uncle just pushed him away.

This just shows how effective it is to be trained. Props for not shooting. I bet oc would have nuked him. 
And rightfully so too. IF you were even charged with anything, you would just have to testify that you felt the lives of yourself, your wife, and your 9 month old child were in grave danger. You showed that through your actions by moving them to the safe location, having them call the cops, and holding down the front door. There isnt a SINGLE thing you could have done better.
Pretty much what the cop said. Its crazy thinking about it after the fact, at the moment it didnt seem like too big of a deal, but i think thats where my training has scarred me

i think its time i got a gun myself. shits starting to get crazy in my neighborhood. we have weekly drug raids, wtf. some of the drug raids, there were people that started hoping walls. i need to take classes on proper gun use, or whatever its called. problem is i dont have any money .

Its a good investment for the piece of mind. Blind firing is one of the stupidest things you could ever do in a situation like this. What if there was a cop coming up behind the person to subdue him, and you killed the cop? Also what if you just injured the person? In this case, you are totally screwed because you would get f**ked in both civil and criminal court. You would likely serve jail time, and the guy could sue the s**t out of you. Or if you did kill him, you would definitely be charged with something along the lines of reckless endangerment blah blah. I would rather let someone own a gun for home defense who is too scared to hurt someone and wont end up using it, than someone like you who would put other innocent people in danger.
