Ok well. I have decided to buy the little miata when i get my insurance check. I took it for a test drive and I instantly fell in love with it. It's so much fun to drive. I also found out a few more things that the owner didnt know (or remember I guess since he is the ONLY owner of the car). for one it has an LSD yeah i tested it on his driveway lol. and two he just had the timing belt and water pump changed before he backed his truck into it and decided to park it. so thats one less thing i have to worry about. and three its the "A" Package. no its not the striped down one but not the high end one either. Also i'll be getting it for $1200. I probably could have gotten it for less since he took my first offer but who cares. these things in worse condition with more miles are still going for $3k or more around here so i call it a bargain. I'll start a build thread on it when I get it.

as for the civic. I am going to buy it back. as of right now im just seeing whether i should fix it or part it out and buy another. right now its looking more like fix it as there isnt a whole lot of interest in the part out right now.

i dont know about all that. im buying it back for $200. i can get it back on the road for less then $200 and back in good shape for around $500. so money is the issue and in my book. working on cars is never a waist of time. its a passion

^^ I disagree...For $200, why not buy it back?? Over the coming years, these cars will be harder to find...I'd keep it for parts, if nothing else....Just sayin...

clearly your idea of good shape is no where near mine. and in no way could 500$ make it "Good"...

i suppose i am spoiled, as these cars are a dime a dozen here in california, and i do not see them becoming "rare" for a few decades. i think that if i was buying a car that needs work, and i had little money to start with i would spend the money on getting one car road worthy- not have to heaps that constantly break down.

if the frame is straight it would not take much to make his civic road worthy, and the miata isnt a heap, it just needs a little body work. the civic is just body work and stuff that would need replaced on a regular suspension tune-up.

these cars are also a dime a dozen here however a RUST FREE civic around here is one in a million. as far as my definition of good. yeah im sure it is quite different. i have several levels of car condition

FUBAR
Horrible
OK
Good
Great
Flawless

im not going to get into what all of them are but as far as good goes. basically mechanically and electrically sound. all body parts intact with no rust and few dents. colors are irrelevant, a little oil or coolant leak is ok but as long as its not a head gasket or any other vital gasket.

Well the little ej is going again. got the parts today. put them on and well. its drivable lol. found a few new problems but is transportation for now until the insurance company decides to pay out so i can go get the miata. its just sitting there waiting for me :( . as for what i found that needs to be fixed that i didnt see on the first inspection.

the front driver side caliper is locked up
the lower control arm is bent a little

but all in all itt works for now. once i get the miata ill park the civic till winter comes and strip it down for a well deserved rebuild. and maybe a swap.

ill get some pics up as soon as i unpack my usb-phone cable. i just moved into my new house so everything is everywhere lol.

I have a question? why did you get a 94 honda civic to fix up? Is this your favorite generation? or is it because its will be cheaper to fix up? Just curious. thx.

that was a factory part. the fiance's mom works at honda's engine plant. so i usually get my parts from her. i would upgrade to the willwood but then id need bigger rims. and i dont have THAT much money yet.

yup. plain and simple. i just love the little 5th gens. they have so much potential and are just a blast to drive.

yeah its a bit pricey but well worth it. i figure $750 for the brakes and another #250 for a set of cheap 16s for now. and then another $100 for some used tires. so $1100-$1200 or so should get me by. one month and ill have that lol.

Alrighty Guys. Small update. The cars back up and driving as it should for the most part. Still need an alignment. I finally got the dup title from the original owner saturday so I got it titled and put a rush on it yesturday and picked it up this morning at 8:30. Then drove to the insurance company. They made a copy of the title and cut me a check for $1200 and some change. so gonna see if i can cash it today. if i can then ill be bringing home a miata tonight. if not then i'll get it sunday. either way its coming home to me very soon. Ill start a build page when i get it.

and dont worry guys. this wont be the last of the updates for the little ej. now that ill have a second car the little ej is getting ready for the winter and brought back to stock. maybe a motor swap before hand who knows lol.

I also fixed the window problem the other day. it was falling off track because the little plastic mounting tab on the bottom of the window came unglued so whenever i put the window down it woul pull the window off track. a little super strength two part epoxy fixed that lol. i know its kinda pointless on a door thats going to be replaced but who cares. i have ac but i dont use it 99% of the time. i like having my windows open.
so far the repairs from the accedent have been:

Upper contol arm and ball joint ($30)
Steering Knuckle w/ hub bearing ($55)
Brake caliper ($37)
Brake Line ($24)
New Pads and rotors (FREE)

so all in all so far $146

Not too bad I Suppose. Still need:

Fender
Door
Turn Signal
to be looking ok again

Paint
tires
hood
tires
to be stockfuly clean again

Looking for parts right now.

i hate it when that happens. good luck with the civic. now that youve got 1200 to spend it should be looking good pretty soon. or some quick progress.

That was kinda shitty of him.....He knew you wanted it, and were waiting for your check, so the least he could have done was call you...Oh well, like you said, you can spend it on the civic.....

front mugen lip
rear lip
mugen side skirts
trans seal kit
