Messing around with ideas lately and came across this

So I wanted to put a sunroof on my 92 LX and ran across this website.

Anyone ever put one of these on their car (whether it was a Honda or otherwise)? Also, I never plan on doing anything with my Civic other than just having it as a DD, but will I have to do some sort of bracing if I cut that big of a hole in the roof? Here's a picture of my $400 beauty.

it would be better just to get a sunroof out of a civic that has one or order one, cut the hole, and insert the unit...the seals that should come with the unit should keep it water tight if the hole is cut properly in size.....that ragtop thing looks kinda lame (no offense) and prolly a waste of time for all the work it would take

Other than running the wires for power it doesn't take any more time than a standard pop up sunroof from what I've read on other forums and/or talking to a few guys that have done it. It's just a bigger hole. I just want to make sure there isn't some sort of bracing that needs to be done underneath like when you make a hardtop into a convertible.

popular with older brit and euro cars like minis and mk1 vw's.

if it is built like the kits they use, the frame is pretty stiff to help out the roof. shouldn't need new bracing.

however, you can get an aftermarket glass pop up sunroof for a few hundred, and it will look better on a civic.

id recommend against getting a rag top. it would make it that much easier for a thief to break into your car

I traded a pos $400 Cherokee for the car. If someone wants it that bad they can have it has always been my philosophy. Plus I never lock the car anyway.
