Yea I plan on doing that, I was just wondering what everyone else had. I think a .45 would be nice to have.....in the future. Im not really a large frame guy.....and even though in the 1911 steel frame platform the recoil isnt that bad, 1911's arent that comfortable for me. And I hear .45s are a b***h to get a hold of right now. On top of that, I would rather have 12-15 shots of 9mm or .40 than have.....what 8 shots in .45? I believe in shot placement over anything.
Well if you believe in shot placement, the 8 rounds of .45 will do you fine. Not unless you can't handle the recoil of the .45
1911s and Glocks have crazy followings. Sig p229 are good guns too, and come in both flavor of 9mm or .40 Not sure how the ammunition supply were you are at is, but here all 3 calibers of ammunition can be found at the local gun stores, just that the .45 are much more expensive than the .40 or 9mm.
If you're just looking for a good home defense weapon, nothing beats a pump action shotgun. I'd take the shotgun over any pistol. It's a very versatile weapon depending on what ammunition you feed it.
I made the big mistake of selling my brother my Mossberg, so for bumps in the night I have a .357 snub-nose loaded with .38 special next to the bed stand, hell it's only 5 shot, but if that doesn't do the job I'll have to bring out the carbine.
