Hey everybody! I need your help....my son blew up his engine in his 99 si. We bought a B16A and have it in the car. What do we need to do now to make this engine work in this car? We changed the oil pump and put on the crank sensor before we put it in the car. Did we go in the wrong direction there? It appears we dont have a plug to plug the crank sensor into. Will this harness plug into our stock ECU ? Should we change the ECU ? Do we need a jumper harness and where do we get it if we do? Thanks

found what we think is the crank sensor wire from the harness, but it doesnt mate up with the crank sensor wire....will post pics if we dont figure it out...the crank sensor has 3 wires, blue, white, black. and the wire from the harness has two wires, blue with red stripe, white with red stripe....does this sound like the right wire from the harness for the sensor? thanks

Hey,If his car is a true si then the motor he blew up should have been a b16a also? What year is the B16 that your tring to drop in?If its also out of a 99 or 00 everything should hook rite in.

I'm not sure with the whole technical stuff behind B16 engines but it sounds like you either bought an ODBI B16A or JDM B16A. The 99-00 Si engine is a B16A2 (OBDII since it's 96+).

the motor that blew was a B16A2....this is a B16A...we put the new oil pump on and then the Crank sensor with the flanged pulley that the sensor reads, problem is the sensor plug doesnt mate up with our wiring harness plug, so we need to do something here to make this work

Im gonna put some blue tap connectors on the wires and hook around the connectors and sail on....gaining ground fast now...cant wait to hear it run :D...any good advice on bleeding the clutch?

have you tried swaping your b16a2 crank sensor to the b16a engine? i mean, if them both are OBDll then the blocks should be almost the same, in case their not identical. while with the clutch, i always do it the same way, three or for pumps to the pedal, and open the bleeding nipple at the slave cilinder. hope that this will help, and let us know if that b16a worked, and how good it worked.

we changed out the oil pump so we could mount the crank sensor, bought the flanged timing pulley that the sensor needs to read, and are using our same wiring harness that matches our ECU...have heard something about needing to change out something else...anybody know what it is ?

we bought the B16A block and head only then put all our stuff from the B16A2 on it...thanks guys for the responses...Lord knows we will probably need some more help as we progress.....

we got it running today. had a starting problem, we forgot one vacuum hose to the cruise, but now she runs !
Now we need some brakes and some tires and we're road ready again. ( yeah it needed everything )
