Help! Cut RCA cables!

I know I'm knew, but I'll do introductions later.

I bought a 97 civic Ex about 2 weeks ago and love it. It has an aftermarket stereo and was prewired for a sub and amp. The wires for the amp come out through the floor under the passenger seat.

Here's what happend: I've been feeling ill lately and wasn't thinking clearly. I wanted to hook up my sub, even though I don't have an amp yet. I was just going to disconnect a rear speaker and connect it to that until I get my amp, but then I realized the rear speakers are kenwoods. :-) nice suprise. Anyway, I ran the cable from my sub to the floorboard to connect (don't ask me how - I wasn't thinking) to the wires for the amp. I was going to just connect the sub straight to the stereo til I realized I would have to take off the whole dash to get to it.

Long story short: Somehow I managed to cut the ends off of my rca cables thinking I could strip them and hook up my sub to them....

Any help? I really don't want to have to re-run the pre-existing rca cables and just wait til I can afford an amp.

u need new rca wires. you can splice the rac with speakerwire but the sq will be s**t

Sorry to say but you need an amp to run the speaker properly. Your headunit doesn't have near the power need to run a sub.

I'd listen to him. MECP master installers usually know they're s**t. The 100w your getting from your stereo isn't gonna push a sub very well.Plus it will just sound stupid trying to push out bass and vocals.

also...there is no way in heck his radio output is 100w. 9 times out of 10, CEA places radio output at 18w +or- per channel.

^^ WINNER WINNER ! ! Radios can only put out a given amount. Think of it like this. Vehicle electrical system while motor is running is roughly 13.5 volts and the radio fuse is 10 amps maybe even 15 amps. Use ohm's law and what do you get? At 10 amps max power per channel could only possibly be 33.75 watts and at 15 amps it could only be max 50.625 watts. But I promise you that they are not even putting out that. If you are using the RCA output of the radio that isn't even an amplified output. It is a low voltage audio output for amplifiers so you would get little or no sound at all. If you went to the audio store and looked at a true 50 watt 4 channel amp and compared the size of it to a radio then you could see that there is no way that amp is inside the radio.

We do all start out as noobs doing things like this. I know I did when I was 13 helping my buddies out. It is how we all learn until we figure it out through trial and error or getting a job doing it and get taught by someone who knows how it is really done.
