Instrument lighting...

Ok, I'm sure some of you guys that have been here forever just rolled your eyes, and yeah, I guess I'm a noob. BUT!!!! I did a search, and couldn't come up with anything, so I'm going to ask.

Has anyone or does anyone know what # replacement bulbs go in the instrument panel? Not, the #194, and not the #74/T15 bulbs. I figured those out before I had to ask this. I cannot for the life of me find a number on the little tiny bulbs except for that they say "JDM 4". That's all, and of course a google search does nothing for me.

Any & all help is GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks in advace!!!

The tiny ones are 74s man.. it took me a while too figure it out. I used superbrightleds.com dont buy the cheapest ones though, they will look faded.

Thanks for the quick reply, but I have to disagree. The #74/T15 led bulbs fit in the brown sockets on the back of my 6th gen Civic instrument cluster. The bulbs for the black sockets are smaller. Only by a mm or so, but they are smaller. It's the same small light bulb that lights up the shift indicator in the center console for the automatic transimission.

I second this. I used the cheap ones and they work ok but They could be a bit brighter. As for size, I have no clue. I did this mod in my jeep.

Well you know you dont need to change the color of the black ones, just the brown ones. but im guessing you want to change the color of the shift indicator.. and i have no clue on what size those are, mine is a standard.. sorry bud.. theres a real lack of info on that crap.. just keep trying

Do either of you guys know off hand how many to order? I just want to replace all the back lighting bulbs. Also this is a long shot, but I have an EDM/JDM cluster, and cannot find how to hook up the dimmer correctly, just wonder if you have any insight to this. Thanks

Actually, since mine's an automatic, I took out the old "PRNDD2D3" and the whole plate/assembly, and replaced it with the boot from a 5speed. Looks MUCH, much cleaner & nicer. What I did is to repurpose the light that lit that whole thing up. The cup holders are black & hard to see at night, so I cut the housing off the old automatic assembly where the light socket hooks into, and mounted it to the outside of the cup holder, under all the trim. It's far enough away so that the bulb isn't touching any plastic, and then I drilled two holes (facing each side at an angle) into the cup area, and the light now shines in there & lights that up quite nicely. I'm wanting to find a green LED bulb that fits that light socket so it matches the green LEDs that I put in my dash. Car's green, so green lights. It's actually pretty cool, if only to me. I like those "little" custom touches & details that you have to look for to notice.
