Alright so i have a alpine type R series speakers in my 00 si, an i really dont have a 4 channel amp or realy the money to afford on, anyone have suggestions on what i can do? i was thinking more along the lines of sellin these, and gettin stock ones and hookin up my sub and amp i had in my previous car. anyone kno of where i can find some stock ones except the dealer? and if anyone is interested in the type rs let me kno, all 4 speakers, for like 250 or 300. idk how well they work cause i havnt been able to get anything to work but i believe they are jus fine. i kno they're pretty good quality speakers so all help would be appreciated.

keep em, you'd lose out more in the long run by selling em

if you check the for sale section i've got an alpine mrv-f345 4ch for $100 and i can include an 8gauge amp kit and an extra set of RCAs. set it to high pass, hook up your amp and sub with a separate amp kit, and you've got a setup that would make a good percent jealous.

RCA cables are what carries the sound from your head unit to the amplifier. They look like this

8 gauge is the size of the power wire. Depending on how far you are running it and the amount of power the amp is pushing, you want no smaller than 8 gauge for an amp. The farther you are running and the more power you are adding means that you have to up the size of the wire. My system is running 4 gauge right now because I only have one sub and don't need the upped size.

no wonder you can't get anything to work. there are a million DIYs, youtube vids and website that teach you how to install stereo systems.

yeah...all that for $100. the alpine type r's come ALIVE with an amp, being that they are designed to run with one.

well i bought the car and the guy had his own setup in there, i didnt put the stuff in there, he rigged his own wireing, had an amp in there and took all of it out when he sold it to me so idk what hes done, so i havnt done anything i hooked up my system in my integra and it ran fine but i had stock speakers wit a sub and amp and a headunit, obvioiusly they work wit a amp or else i wouldnt have this problem. jus tryin to find a way to get it to work. i kno how to install it jus dont kno what he did. and i dont have the money for an extra amp. all i got is a amp for the sub thats it...how much is the apline sub ur sellin pushin? watt wise.

I have alpine typ s in my eg.. Sound good for no amp to em, my bass is unseen though.
But if u cant grt ur speakers to work it's most likely an instilation problem. Not the speakers

Redo it. I have rewired the stereo systems in almost all of the cars I have owned. Setting up car audio wiring is the easiest wiring you can do in your vehicle. Redoing it is the only way that I know for sure that it was done right.

^^ agreed. the best way is to at least trace through everything and verify. you said your friend hooked up his 4channel and it worked, or you bought it from a friend who had a 4channel hooked up. either way it sounds like you should make a plan for what you want out of it, and rewire. the type r speakers are great and since you have them you should take advantage of it. amp them, add your amp and sub, a good headunit, and rock out all day long.

re-read what you wrote, sounds like it's wired for a 4channel so that's the missing link. is there a power wire and RCA cables already run in the car?? so literally all you're missing is the amp?

well i have a alpine head unit already in there, and theres a power cable, and some rca's. but i was tryin to find a way to hook it up and get sound out of them without adding a second amp. and yea we hooked it up but the back ones were the only ones that would work idk if cause the wiring up front wasnt right or what. it was a realy crapy job it looks like so ill have to jus tear it apart and redo it, thanks guys for your help.

I would just buy a 4-channel amp. the stock speakers blow balls. You can find some good 4-channel amps for cheap on local listings. You can even find good used ones on ebay.
