What's up with pre-1989?

Hi, I'm a newbie with a clean 1986 Civi Si. It seems that pre 1989 Civics aren't covered as well on the forum....for example nothing prior to 1989 under "Specs". Am I missing something?

They are just rare and not modified as much as say the 92 and up civics.
Old school civics if done right are still ballet status and capable of being fast

Most people would consider any Civic to be "ballet status"

Anyway, welcome to the site. Post up what you drive!

Sorry baller status.. Damn iPhone auto text correct.
I HATE that. iPhone auto correct a sentence of mine the other day..

Me: "Where are you"
Her: "Lanesboro" (a town nearby)
Me: "Poopin"

... Apparently iPhone rather say Poopin instead of Oooohh... lol

I'll post some pics reasonably soon. I actually bought the car for my son to take to college, but driving it home I decided I wanted it.....I'll give him my pickup. Great shape 124,000 miles, complete service record and even a factory service manual. Paid 800 bucks for it. Right at about 40mpg so far. Air conditioner doesn't work though. The plan is to drive it until it drops.

It hilarious changing the oil. You put the oil filter on the garage floor underneath the car and then reach through the back of the engine compartment to pick it up off the floor and put it on.

Sounds like this site is mostly about modding. I probably won't do anything serious to it......it just runs too good as it is.

Most members on this site are modding. But you are MORE than welcome to stay and learn about all the generations, and ask for help if you get stuck with some maintenance or fixing your car.

Pre-1988 (or slightly later, depending on the model) Hondas just aren't as common in comparison to the later model cars. On top of the lower ownership numbers, fewer people want to modify those cars (or otherwise learn about them it seems).

I know what you mean though. I just picked up an '88 Prelude 4WS to daily drive and restore. Besides some better brakes, better tires and an iPod hook up, I really don't want to change anything. I just want to clean it up and get everything working fine.

Yet information seems difficult to find. :( All the emphasis is on '92-'01 Preludes (4th and 5th gens). And they're just not at all similar to the 3rd gen I'm driving. Not even the same engine series.
