Yeah seriously.. That's a smart move lol.

I'll have to agree, the warning shots were over the top. And it's funny, this could probably one day be me. Me, my roommate, and my downstairs housemate all keep loaded shotguns in our rooms. And from what my roommate says, if someone breaks in, you speak in a loud and clear manner and tell them not to come any closer and to leave, or else shoot, especially if you can't see them or don't know what they're holding or could be holding.

I seriously hope I'll never have to shoot someone in my life but when it's either my life or whoever is breaking in, I think I'll choose my life. And I still need to get my pistol permit. I'd love to own a pistol. And as far as I know, New York allows CCW with a handgun permit, but police or local authorities can "overrule" you so-to-speak.

I would of shot them. I think the law in ohio protects this kind of thing. I forget exactly all details but I know that if someone trespasses into a home and you shoot them then you are protected. No physical harm is needed like this case posted. One step inside is enough. I'm 99% certain there was a case like that couple years back like this where two guys were trying to come into a persons home, one or maybe both were shot. The shooter did nothing illegal.

Though a true "AK-47" would be illegal none the less.. Well it may be legal if its converted to semi-auto??

(B)(1) The owner, lessee, or renter of real property or a member of the owner’s, lessee’s, or renter’s family who resides on the property is not liable in damages to a trespasser on the property, to a member of the family of the trespasser, or to any other person in a tort action for injury, death, or loss to person or property of the trespasser that allegedly is caused by the owner, lessee, renter, or family member if, at the time the injury, death, or loss to person or property allegedly is caused, all of the following apply:

(a) The owner, lessee, renter, or family member is inside a building or other structure on the property that is maintained as a permanent or temporary dwelling;

(b) The trespasser has made, is making, or is attempting to make an unlawful entry into the building or other structure described in division (B)(1)(a) of this section;

(c) The owner, lessee, renter, or family member uses reasonably necessary force to repel the trespasser from the building or other structure described in division (B)(1)(a) of this section or to prevent the trespasser from making the unlawful entry into that building or other structure.

I wouldnt tell them to leave. I would pull a citizens arrest on their asses. I would tell them to get down on the f**king ground NOW or I will shoot. And I would also be blinding them with a flashlight (assuming its night). If they get down on the ground, stand 10 feet away pointed right at them, call the cops. If they try and run, you have to let them. If they run at you, f**kin blast away.
