i bought a 94 hatch with stock motor just a dseries non vtec 5pd. i bought her and she started up idled crappy (changed spark plugs, retimed it, and adjust the valves) that fixed the idle she origninally had a blown head gasket due to a hole in the radiator fixed that as well changed the oil... she started runnin better but she gets no power she doesnt wanna go over 65 and when u let of the gas she backfires... the compression was tested before new head gasket so that will get rechecked tomorrow, supposed to also check fuel pressure and the filter... she spits and sputters... not sure what it could be if anyone can help please tell me what it could be... cuz i dont have the money right now to go and get a new motor... so if its something i can get fixed please tell me..

A friend of mine had a problem of crappy idle... low power... drive like a snail...... hmmm it was due to the timing belt was 1 teeth off, I wonder if that's the case too..

what gear were u trying to get over 65 mph? 4th? 3rd? 5th?

Check HT leads connections are 100% slightly bad connection could also have caused this...

Hope my brainstorming helped~

Since there is a new distributor, then coil should be fine to, just check the cables connecting the distributor to the spark plugs... and the earth wires as well bad/poor connections might have caused this.

Please do not overlook the previous fuel pressure as you have stated on your 1st post.

Keep us posted.
