The reason they look the same is because they are all Civics. Civics here in the U.S have three trims: Coupe, Sedan, and Hatchback. A EK9 is a hatchback.

When you say EK you are denoting a SPECIFIC CAR, which is NOT WHAT YOU HAVE.

EK9 = Civic Type R, which was first introduced in 97 which is why this one has a different front end. Its a different year but its still a EK9.

This is something I have been wondering about too as far as ordering parts.
So if you have a 99-00 coupe and they list a certain part for either a eg or ek, we get it for the ek?
I'm assuming so.

when buying Japanese parts your chassis in common is the EK. EK parts on an EJ doesn't make an EJ an EK.

all that differs in the years are the remolded front/rear ends. everything else is the same.

ek9 is a type r RHD hatchback

yours is a ej8 (96-00 Civic EX Sedan North America) just so you know.
