Help/Advice buying a 98 hatch

Hey what's up everyone!? I've been browsing around looking to trade/buy a car found a guy willing to trade my 97lx sedan for his 98hatch. He told me some flaws that have me worried since don't know much about engine swaps and stuff. He swapped in a b16a2 but told me the idle jumps also it won't pass smog which isn't too much of a problem yet! But I wanna get it BAR'd so I won't be hassled by cops. Advice please and thank you!

Clean title still has power steering
Mods:
B16A2
Function and Form Type 2 Coilovers
No name Headers
AEM intake with BLOX Velocity Stack w/filter
16 inch 5 Zigen GN+ Rims
2000 Front End
EP3 Steering Wheel
Wink Mirror
and more . . . . . . .

Cons:
Dent on the passenger fender
Idle Problem.....idle bounces
No AC

if you want the car to be bar'd with the b16a2 you need to replace everything in the engine thats not carb best to put back everything stock like the headers and intake the all the air stuff.

as for the idle take out your IACV and clean it up most likely thats the case. its located on the back of the intake manifold with 2 hoes 1 electric plug and 2 bolts holding it.

oh and also you have to get the idle fixed before thinking about bar'd

Yeah that's what I was planning on doing if I hopefully get the car, selling after market parts for stock parts. Thanks a lot for the help bro!!

Engine wise ummm.. i mean as long as it stock you'll pass set idle at 750 and your good to go

Check my thread out and see what you like whatever it is good for it you cant go wrong unless you putting on some weird weird thing off ebay then thats a problem lol.

also see what ecu the car is running cause with the wrong ecu it can have CEL. im sure it has a check engine cause you need a rare ecu for a b16a2 swap into a 96-98 civic for a good running car.

Hmm seems like it'll be a pain for me to find a legit ecu lol. Still a noob when it comes to all the technical stuff.
My car is completely stock and a/t besides the si rims and front/rear lips
Should I still go with the deal?

Well in my opinion i will in a heartbeat go for the trade, think about it stock 4door LX vs Ek w/swap thats a deal plus the seat and so forth the only problem is that your going to have to fix what the previous owner didnt want to fix which is the idle and if he does have the 99-00 civic si ecu then im sure there a check engine light but again you can alway sell the car back for more than an 4 door lx is worth overall you gain and he loses.

notice you live in LA area i live in the central valley but i go down to Long Beach every few months,have family there.

Yeah you have a solid point there! Just don't wanna run into any car problems and be car-less since I need to drive to school.
