I have 99 civic ex coupe (d16y8) and the car will sometimes die if I am sitting at an idle if the air conditioning is running and I press on the brake. I decided to test it. I pressed once and the idle dropped to zero, i pressed harder the second time and it died. The radio will sometimes just go off randomly at idle, and this lights will dim.
Do you guys have any idea what the problem could be?
Thanks in advance.

At first I was thinking that perhaps the IACV was faulty, which sometimes you can just remove, clean it up and reinstall and all is well.

However it sounds like a power issue from the alternator as if its not generating enough amperage to run everything. But if the alternator is on its last leg and or dead the car will run off the battery until its dead as well.

I would check the alternator though, get the car running and remove the negative battery terminal. If the car dies immediately you have a alternator problem. If it doesnt, then hit the brake or turn all your accessories on thier highest settings. This forces the alternator to increase its output to support everything. If it dies then remove the alternator, take it to your local parts store and have them test it.

I had the alternator and the battery tested the other day and the alternator was running at 14.17 volts instead of 14 (autozone said was recommended), and the battery was good.
But I will test it by doing that.
Thanks
