i was installing new head lights and came across this

one big crack

i think it cracked when i slammed my car on coilovers for a day and went over a bump i remember hearing my car scraping the ground real loud so it might have been the cause of it. it doesnt seem like its doing anything wrong with the car though but i was just wondering what this thing is for and what would happen if i dont replace/fix it? thanks

its the transmission fluid reservoir and it looks bone dry! you need to fill it up with DOT3 brake/hydraulic fluid asap before your rear differential starts sticking or slipping

so is it part of the air box or is it the transmission fluid reservoir? & btw this is a 99-00 civic ex auto transmission.

its the airbox to the stock air intake system, mine was cracked too, i taped it up with duck tape. it doesnt matter if its cracked. just buy a short ram intake and take all that stuff out. trust me ur engine will look lighter and you have better access.

Billy is just messin with you .

It's the resonator for the stock air intake. If you take that off, you'll notice at WOT (wide open throttle), you'll hear a loud humming sound. That big box makes it quieter.

If you buy an aftermarket intake, at WOT, it will sound throaty and "cooler". Aftermarket intakes are pointless on a D-Series. Just remove that lower resonator and get a K&N drop-in filter.
