Right now I have just a screen over the turbo rather than a filter.. aka this:

http://www.xenocron.com/xenocron-turbo-filter-p-222.html

I've been told not to use this, and to get an actual air filter instead. I still have p/s, so a normal sized filter would be too large. For you turbo guys out there, do you recommend getting a real filter, or should the screen be alright?

On the Xenocron page, it says for use on low boost setups and track use... my car is a DD, currently at 10 psi... soo I really don't know..

Thanks
:thumbs up

Autozone sells airfilters that might fit. They are about 2-3 inches tall

Or perhaps you could fit an elbow on the end of the turbo and put the filter farther away where you have room for a larger filter.

Okay, so you guys would recommend I get a filter rather than the little mesh thing I have on there? I have heard of getting an elbow to put on there also, so maybe I'll look in to that.

Thanks

Def use a filter. Those little ones will cause a vacume and pull oil thru the seals. You will end up with oil on the lip of the compressor housing. My friend replaced his turbo and had the second one warrentied for seals before we figured it out thru a little research. But gl. With it.

It will cause a little lag, but if your that concerned with it purchase a filter.

Not concerned with lag really, just don't want to regret not getting a good filter in case something happens (like something charlie brown said)

also on a side note... seem to be leaking oil from the head all around... could this be the head pulling from the block, or just the hg starting to fail.. 10psi stock head bolts...

not since we did the motor swap two summers ago haha.

I'm actually picking up a built B18B head next week, crower springs, retainers, ARP head studs... very good price. Going to get that and a new hg and replace them both in the spring.

Also thanks to everyone else for the replies
