i have a 2000 civic si and i have been having battery problems. i bought this car about 5 months ago.everything was fine. then one day i was cleaning the engine bay and the car wouldn't start. i left he car running while a sprayed it with the hose. i didnt spray it for too long. just a quick rinse. i turned the car off. and after that it wouldnt start. i jump started it and it started right up. then the next day it was dead again. so i removed the battery ad took it to advanced auto parts and they said all it needed was a charge. so they charged it for me. i took it home, car started right up. then i had no problems for about a month. car would start up fine every time. but now my battery is dead again. i dont imagine that the alternator is dad because it worked fine for a month. my car sat for about a week because it s not my daily driver. the batter was installed in 2008. i dont wanna waist the money on a new battery and end up having the problem again. anyone have any ideas on my the battery is being so weird? maybe just time for a new battery?

most batteries come with a warranty. yours must have lost the amps needed to crank your car up, it would still hold a charge but not for long.. i would totally get a new battery and see how that works out

Take the car to a advanced and have them do a free diagnostic check on the charging system. It will tell you if the alt is going bad or if it's just the battery needing replacing.

buy a new battery. also, for future reference, never again spray your engine bay while the car is on. alway do it when the car is off and cool. you can crack your headers that way, you can get water in the engine and get water into the alternator. if your battery keeps draining, the alternator is bad. i was having a similar problem and once i replaced the alternator, problem solved. . its shot and needs to be replaced. if your battery is 2 years old, it needs replacing. when u buy the new battery find out when the warranty runs out so u can exchange it before the warranty wont run out and ull have to buy yet another battery. also the weather is a factor. i know since its been cold i found out my car doesnt like to start cold. in the summer i didnt have any problem starting. hope this helps.

I agree with RonJ. Charge it and check for a drain.

I also want to ad that just because the alternator was working fine for a month doesn't mean that it is still fine. Don't just assume.

you got a new batterie in 08? then your battery is probably shot, thats just how it works, aftermarket batteries just don't last as long. go to interstate battery. those guys rock.

Make sure you KEEP the receipt because they require that for the warranty
