Curiousity has struck me

In the attempts of trying to get closer to the civic community in Temecula I went to a car meet while a large population of cars. And while I was there a few older civcs rolled in with inverted tires. Is this just something that some dudes do in this area or is this like a full blown style I didn't know about? Just seems like it would burn up tires quicker.

It's called tire stretching. Take a narrow tire and stretch it onto a wide rim.

It started in Germany and is a lot more popular among the VW community even more-so with the ones that drive the older ones.

Been around for a long time now. I was in the VW scene well over 5 years ago and it was popular then.

It's just a fad that goes in and out just like everything else.

its not called tire stretching its called hellaflush style the VW guys used tire poke style its diffrent hellaflush uses insane amounts of negative camber to make wide rims flush with the fender .poke means the rim lip and tire wall pokes out past the fender and the tire tred is flush with the fender you use tire stretching for both applications.and yes you will go through tires very fast because you will have unevan tire wear on the inside.

Sticking a small tire on a wide rim is called tire stretching. I guess it depends on what the OP is asking. Is he talking about the rims and tires or is he talking about the WHOLE look, suspension and all. What you are talking about is the look of everything added together. I was talking about the rims and tires, of which I thought the op was asking about.

Stretched tires, wide wheels and offset is the new trend. If your car is going to be for show or cruising then go for it.

Otherwise if it will have a purpose for the track reconsider because racing on that kind of setup is asking for failure.
