There is no replacement for displacement. Period.



All it means is the 4 cylinder guys put more money into the car. Dollar for dollar, you'll get better power results out of a V8 than a I4.


Thats why fully built screamin' eagle harley v-rods w/ 1400cc's, extended swingarms and air shifters get smoked by -stock- 600cc sportbikes.. And why stock k20 ek will beat a 2jz soup stock for stock all day... GTFO

you cant really use a top fuel motor to compair to anything...and Formula 1 is going back to I4 motors ;)

Building a V8 to go 8.80's is more expensive than building a honda civic to go 8.80's. Your V8 is going to have to make a hell of a lot more power than the 4 cylinder

To get a 87 Mustang at curb weight to a 8.8 Quarter will take 900-1000HP.

To get a V8 into the 1000HP range, should run at about 15k for the best of the best in parts.

You keep your attitude up and you'll be GTFO.

A GSXR 600's weight is ~350pounds. The Screamin' Eagles is ~700. That's TWICE the weight.
The GSXR 600 makes 125HP, so does the Screamin' Eagle.

They're doing that to cut costs, not for performance.

They're going from a 2.4l V8 spinning at 18,000rpm to a 1.6l turbo I4 at 12,000rpm.

An additional revision to the 2013 regulations will see a drop in the number of engines at drivers' disposal. Currently they can use eight units a season without penalty, but this will be limited to five in 2013 and reduced to four for subsequent seasons.

It's all cost cutting.

And it's not "going back" because the 1.5l engines that dominated the turbo age were all V6's. Inlines competed but we're back in the pack.

Chances are the change won't even happen since many of the manufacturers think it's a bunch of s**t.
