94 Civic Cluster

I recently bought a 94 Hatchback with a puzzling problem with the cluster. The temperature and gas gauges work fine but the speedometer idles at 30 Mph. I did a little research and found that the sensor that it runs off is normally connected to the transmission. Now I'm wondering if the problem is either in the cluster or in that sensor and how I would go about finding out which is the problem. I don't believe that the cluster is stock.

I'm also wondering if a cluster with a tachometer (from the same generation of course) would hook up without additional wiring, seeing how this one is lacking that.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

yes one with a tach would fit. you don't need to do any extra wiring. Honda did all the wiring but felt it was cheeper to not put a tach in the dx models. just simply take the three screws out to get the bezel off around the cluster, the four around the cluster and unplug it is all. takes about 15 minutes even if you don't know what youre doing. hope that helps!

Before You Do It! Buy The Tach And The Fuel/Temp Gauge. Just A Reminder. You Might've Bought The Tach and You Dont Have A Fuel Gauge LOLZ
