The dome light has three setting to the little switch off to turn on when the door opens and always on when i got the car even set to turn on when the door opened it wouldnt replaced the bulb and it worked fine but now on that setting it wont work when you open the door it is not the bulb because it will work if you set it to on and had an extra new one and threw it in real quick just to be sure and it still didnt work not quite sure how to go about fixing this searched but didnt find anything car is 98 civic ex annyoing at night or i wouldnt worry about it any help is apperciated

I had the same problem on my older car. You should check the sensor/button in the doorjam. This lets it know when the doors open and closed. I went to a junkyard and just replaced the whole set up. cost like $5?

SOmebody could correct me if I am wrong at all but the stock radio would handle if the dome light would come on for the door opening and also for a remote start/keyless entry. I personally do not have a keyless entry or remote starter so there is a simple way you can fix it which is what I did, I will find the link, but if you have a keyless entry or remote starter I am not to certain if you can fix it in an easy way.

All you have to do is use some spare speaker wire and dome light will work if you follow what to do in the link.

i have to agree with all the above posted replies the light should run from the door switches, there is one on either door. im not positive on this and please let me know if i am on my 240sx the door switch is grounded to the body if there is some rust or a bad connection it could cause the switch not to work. also one way to check is to try both doors if neither trigger the light on then you might have another problem.
Dude, it's cutting 2 wires off of the green harness behind you radio & twisting them together, that's it, I did it & it worked for me.
Thats what it was i had just recently changed the headunit never knew that would cause that. Thank you for the info works great now and to RonJ your right all of them will have it from now on not trying to be a smartass. I honestly just never thought about doing it need to get back in the habbit of typing proper as college english is coming soon.
