what is a good ecu for my civic

i have a 97 civic d16y8 ,headers full race exause and cold air intake 10mm plugs and ngk r plugs i was told that changing my ecu would give me power? is this true and if so what car do i need to get one out of?

well you dont have much done to the car, you cant just take a ecu out of another honda and run it. You need more then that. Just keep your ecu.

You can bolt on any D-series Tranny aside from the D17/Bastard-D Trannies on your engine. It all depends on your gearing preference which would depend on when you do with the car. You can even tear the Tranny apart and slip in different gears off different D Trannies to get the gearing you want. But there is no use in messing with it if you don't know exactly what gears you want.

Also, for the mods you have, a new ECU is not needed. However, resetting your ECU by disconnecting the battery for a couple minutes is recommended seeing as your ECU will need to learn the new sensor readings and learn to compensate.

what can i do besides turbo
Head work, cam, cam gear, intake manifold, t-body, the possiblites are endless of what you could actually do to it but just bolting on parts isnt going to make you much hp you need to figure out some kind of goal for the car, a budget, what hp you want to make and how you are going to tune it, because if you want to serisouly mod it then you will need a way to tune it.
