yes your car has vtec. some ppl just have no clue what their talking about so you have to watch out and never go on anyone elses word until you have done research yourself.

put a muffler on or headers...both help a little with hp but thats ur call
well yea you can do this but you wont see much gains out of a SOHC. If your just trying to give it a little pep then i would do WS2 catback exhaust,DC sport header, buy an ebay intake and change the filter to a K&N one, maybe if your budget is a little good you can get a chipped ECU and go turbo where you will see the most gain out of a SOHC. But that takes a big budget.

Slap whoever told you it wasnt vtec and you shouldnt have to look it up or ask man just pop the hood and look for the vtec solenoid. Bolt ons dont give you hardly anything on a d series it all depends on how much your looking to spend and how much extra hp you want.

What is your budget and what do you mean by a little extra hp. To one person a little extra is 10 to others its 50.

The exhaust alone with run you 230 thats for the yonaka and thats the cheapest name brand one i know of.

25-30 hp isnt nearly as easy as it sound intake , header exhaust are only going to give you like 5 or 6 hp.

Post up pics of the engine bay if you think there is a header already on it you should be able to tell, but post up a picture and we will tell you.

well i mean if your budget is only 200-300 you can maybe do ebay intake and switch filter for a better one, since you might already have a header than you could be all set in this department but fo exhaust I've heard of some people buying the ebay exhausts just for the piping and then they switch the exhaust and the cat for a better one but this is gonna make you go over your budget. So i recommend you keep it stock for now and just save up more cash. try making a budget of 700-800 then you got a little more to work with, such as better quality and reliability.

It will be impossible to get that hp out of 300 dollar budget man. You may get the ebay intake and switch filter and even if you get the ebay exhaust if you want it to sound good your probably need a name brand muffler. Thats your budget gone right there. Post up pics of header in question.

200-300 might get you 2 hp if you're lucky.

25-30hp is actually a difficult range to hit. You won't hit it with basic bolt ons. You have to get into actually building the engine, which is where labor starts to get expensive if you can't do the work yourself.

At that point, you might as well learn how to put together a homemade turbo for the same price and get way more power out of it (~80-120hp).
