DA Itegra yes or no?

I found a DA in my area I may be getting to replace the civic that got totaled. What should I look for when I look at the car, and what are some of the problems I should look out for. Is it the same as Civics?
Thank you for your help in this as everything I know about cars I learned from my Civic.

get a crx, same problems but a better looking car.

aka they rust, the leak water in from the hatch, make squeaky noises when driving from the hatch. only thing is you dont get as powerful a motor... do a motor swap.

At the moment, anything is an upgrade. I'm just looking around because I don't know how much the insurance company is going to give me for the wrecked Civic.

What was the blue book on your car every time insurance has had to cut my family anything for totalled vehicles we have just gotten the blue book value for it. Not sure if that is how it is done other places and other insurance companies though.

Yea, but he didn't ask if YOU approved of the car he was interested in, he asked for advice on what potential problems he should look for when he goes to check the car out. You can either help the guy out by giving advice, or not post in this thread anymore, both are options that WON'T get you your second infraction for the day. Quit being a d**k.

Dorcus. I would check the basic stuff first, that even an untrained eye can notice. Check the oil level, coolant level, make sure the coolant is a solid color and does not look milky/have oil in it. Check the paint to see if any of the body panels look fresh compared to the others, this is a sign of an accident. If basic things like this check out, take it to a mechanic. Tell the mechanic you are interested in purchasing the car, and want a once-over to look at things like belts, leaks, tires, and brakes. If this checks out to your standards, go for it.

My DA doesn't leak, nor does it squeek.... It has 166k miles on it too.

All hondas rust in the quarter pannels.

IMO- it's a pretty leight car with a LS motor stock. Perfect for boost.

Clearly my advice is to avoid getting an older car. Besides the fact that with the age and common issues that come with it. But, you don't know what the previous owner(s) had done with and to the car.

But, thanks for the threat of another infraction, gives me something to look forward too.

i am confused, your title asks yes or no.- if you are asking how do i feel about owning a DA, well like 253eg said, i too think that the DA is kind of "dirt bag-esque". and feel "no". (if it was a voting pole). someone voted a crx, and that is not the car you are asking about, and i feel that the crx is also a step back. you live back east so i feel that many older cars will have succumb to rust and a few other age related problems. my car has many miles on it, and has few problems, but is a cali car, so we dont really have to worry about rust like you do back east. when looking for problems look for the normal b-series problems like oil pan leaks. being a DA they have the "door mounted seat belt" so make sure that it tracks fine. leaks from sun roofs, look closely at the inside of the windows for moisture that has dried, it will let you know if the car your checking out is a bust. look for OE glass on all the windows. and the most basic, ask for service records and stay away from cars that have been modified. is buying back the old civic a possibility? it just started to come together.. you could buy back and sell parts to make a bit more of a profit, and buy something newer?

Not to mention, my friend has a DA. It leaks on the front passenger side near the wind screen seal/bezel. Paint has gone south. I also think the sunroof has a very small minor leak.

Save yourself the headaches and get something little bit newer than a DA.

I pulled over to aide a accident on I95 on my way home from work at 3 AM Friday morning when a car slammed into the back of my car while parked on the shoulder totaling it. Luckily I wasn't in the car at the time. The tow company wouldn't allow me to take pics, but I have some from the night of the accident, just have to lighten them as it was too dark for my phone to take good pics. Waiting on insurance money now to buy something else.

They don't have much aftermarket support but it's nice when you modify something that's a little harder to find parts for.
