is there any kind of aftermarket systems that allow for a push to start and kill button with a proximity key on a 92-95 civic (specifically a 94 lx automatic)
Thats what i was looking for. less chance of it being stolen. but 500 is a lil pricey...or are you referring to an option like on nissans, where the push to start only works with the key close to the car? i looked into that a while ago, basically the only way to do it that i found was to actually go to a nissan dealer and buy the replacement system. but it was like 500 bucks.
you forgot planting claymore around your car on proximity timers. No car is thief-proof. If thieves really want it, they'll get it.
The best thing you can do is to install things that will slow them down. Kill switches, boot, remove the steering wheel, take out the battery, re-route your hood latch cable, weld your doors and hood shut and get bullet proof glass, etc.
I see a fancy gadget to start a car but I see nothing about security. Like I said, if thieves want it, they'll take it.
And that RFID technology is a waste of money in a car. Maybe in the future but I can't see that being practical in todays society. Company I work for uses the technology for badges and swiping open doors, punching in/out, etc.
i might have a way to skip doing the toggle on. if you use a trigger relay and connect it to the "car run" wire, and hook it up to the unlock button, the pulsed output of the door locks will lock the relay open, then when you get in the car its already on and all you have to do is push the start button. however i guess you would still have to have a "kill" switch. hmm...im sure that there is some way that you could do it. but for safety means i guess its better to just have a kill switch.cool, thanks... i was searching the wrong keywords too lol, i think im gonna get that.
