Should I be looking for anything specific when buying a used iPhone? Any known problems to look for or signs?

I would check to see if the phone was under applecare. If you can get a phone that is still under the year warrenty or has applecare that is a huge plus. That way if the phone was abused you can bring it to a local Apple store and get it looked at by a Genius.

That's a good one, thanks.

I don't which one I should get!! I keep battling back and forth. All I would use the phone for would be calendar/reminders (HUGE for me since I'm horribly forgetful), texting, e-mails, and web surfing. I have the iTouch4 so it's pretty much an iPhone. I don't feel like I would get any excitement out of it. I have 10 apps on my iTouch and use half of them on a weekly basis. But at the same time, everyone is saying the OS is a lot better on the iPhone and Droids. So I'm torn... I think I would like a physical keyboard way more than the virtual one as well...

i'm in your same boat john. i need a new phone. i broke my iphone 3g last week and tried to repair it myself and ended up doing more damage lol. the camera doesnt work, the earpiece speaker doesnt work (have to talk on speaker) and i ended up cracking the new screen during installation! i've been shopping around for innexpensive smart phones and really was disappointed by the reviews of most of them. i'm probably going to end up getting a used iphone again. they're just better than everything else period

Blackberry's are pieces of s**t. Ive had the first/second gen curves. I have the bold now which is somewhat better, but the internet browsing doesnt compare to that of an iPhone or Droid. Imo :what:

my girlfriend has the samsung fascinate android, and it's very very similar to an iphone but a little more customizable and maybe some more bells and whistles out of the box, but it's not nearly as reliable i dont think. she started having software and hardware problems after a month

Might as well just wait a few more months for the iPhone 5

I currently have the Flip from sprint, sprint has the best coverage and price where i live, I had a driod phone and while the apps are much better i like the blackberry just as much. It depends on what you want it for, theres an APP for that really applies to the driod phones. My internet browser is just as fast as my driod was, One thing BB has over them tho is i can use the black berry messanger overseas when i am deployed for free with a wifi signal. So it gives me free international text messaging, It really depends what you want.

Aright my brother gave me his updated list and it's now between 2 Droid OS based phones. The HTC Aria and Motorola Bravo. I've read reviews and will continue doing so but it's still a toss up. There are pros and cons of each. Battery life being a big con. But honestly, who expects a smartphone battery to last more than 24-48 hours when people are going to be tapping, touching, and swiping all day??? Screen size is irrelevant to me. Of course both phones are old technology by now and there will be some lag, as I have read in some reviews, so that's not a big concern with me. My iTouch lags here and there. I'm not expecting a perfect phone so if there glitches here and there, I'll deal. My previous phone I broke was a piece of s**t. When I'd text and hit the letters, it would just stop, then all of a sudden all the letters came really fast. Did it all the time. I lived with it.

Verizon took care of me when my Droid X had a power cycling issue. Called in, on phone for 5 minutes, told to go to nearest Verizon store to be swapped out for a brand new one.

It all depends on the carrier.
