so i just got done installing my new aftermarket fog lights but they wont turn on :what: ... what could it be? im not too knowlegeble when it comes to the eletrical part of things but i do know how to plug and play... it was pretty direct but i cant figure out why they wont turn on? i plugged the yellow wire that goes to the fuse box in the #4 slot, was that the correct one or is it something else? power wire hooked to the battery, both ground wires screwed in, and switch plugged in.... what else is there??? i sure need your help guys

ok I had this problem as well with the car on and the bumper off push the connector that connects into the bulbs together if it turns on then the connectors loose. also where did you ground the wires?

i left the bumper off just for this reason, i mounted the outside ground wire to the front clip just above the driverside fog light, and the interior ground to the metal frame under the steering wheel... are those bad locations???

also make sure you scrape the paint off where you put the ground off you need bare metal touching

ok, so i checked all the connections and still it wouldnt turn on, so i tested the wires after the relay and they still wouldnt work but the power to the battery to the relay had power... so, i disconnected the relay and hard wired it just to see if i had power and what do you know, the lights turned on.... "ITS THE DAMN RELAY"!!!!! even the switch worked and everything, so i went to the auto parts store and tried to see if they carried them and to see if they can some how check the bad one. the bad one supposedly worked but it wasnt clicking as loud as the new one... the new one by the way costs about $40 and some change, around $50 bucks roughly.... i said F$#@K that ! should i just buy the relay or bypass it and add some fuses in between the fogs??? thats what the auto parts guys said i should do... what do you think???

anybody with fog light knowlege out there?

ok, obviously the the relay doesnt work, i bypassed the connection that the relay was connected to and the fog lights turned on. when the auto parts guy tested the relay it made a little clicking sound but when he tried a new one, it made an even LOUDER sound... does that signify that the original actually is bad or is it ok? and also, what exactly does the yellow wire plugging into the fuse box in slot #4 actually do???

if it goes to the fuse box its for power.
you should have connected 2 wires/connectors into the fuse box.

it doesnt matter what spot you get the fuse power from as long as you are gettin power. as for the relay, u need a automotive 30amp relay they sell at advance for about 8 bucks. four pins. two for your coil and two for your switch to your fog lights. you probably have those mixed up. and even if it clicks it doesnt mean its making a strong enough connection. ive been through plenty of these relays. they corrode really easy.

$8 bucks!?! aw man, i didnt even think about goin to advance auto parts.... i went to pep boys and they sell them for $24.99 +tax BUT, its back ordered so i wouldnt get it for about a week they said... money is tight right now with all the bills i have and gas prices sky rocketing but imma check out advance and see... i saw yor comment on another thread and you said something about not to plug straight into the battery, is there a safer place i should plug into??? just wondering... oh, i went to a meet last nite and met a guy who had the same problem w/ his fogs, when he got them workin he said that a week later his wires caught on fire! so bad that he had to bust out the fire extinguisher... i hope that ish dont happen... but thx to all you brothers for your help ....
