Few Issues (Honda Noob Plz Help!)

Soooo. I just bought my car fri, 94 ex 5spd with a D15B7
I believe its wired for vtec, and my engine doesnt have it, till i bust out the mini swap. (hopefully this week)

Well the cluster seems to have some kind of spazz because ill be driving and out of no where the speedometer drops to 0 or the tach will randomly hit 0.... also when I gas it a lot the gas gauge drops down a lot and sloowwwly works its way back up.

Also the car seems to wasting a lot of gas fast, It always smells like gas when I drive also.
Just changed the spark plugs sunday, but when I went to get them at autzone they looked up my car and I think they gave me the plugs and wires for the engine that is actually suppose to be in the car, but my car has been running fine so I dont know if its that big deal.

Is it possible that the car may be wired for vtec and since it doesnt have vtec in it, it causes my car to run rich, waste gas, and smell like ass? haha

i believe all of it has been removed but this summer in cali is going to be no joke haha

I don't believe that your car is wired for VTEC.

Is code 17 thrown?

Typical Civic - error in design, not a problem.

Use only the basic NGK plugs recommended in the owner's manual. To do a proper tune up, you should replace the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor, and then set the ignition timing to spec. Any CEL codes?

Your car has the stock engine in it. The EX trim has the D16Z6 VTEC engine, not the DX trim.

Why don't you think your car has the stock DX wiring?

Unless the wire harness was changed to a DX for the engine swap, then an EX is wired for VTEC. What ECU are you currently using?

Post pictures of your ECU? Is it a P06 or P28?

i have no idea, like i said.... theres no label on it.

im pretty sure the previous owner (before the guy i bought it off of) had a bigger engine in it, crashed it, replaced the front clip (i have fat black fenders, hood, bumpers) threw in the D15 and a small radiator, shitty welded the motor mount and sold it to the guy i bought it off of

ill try to get a picture in a lil while when i get out of class..... when i got the car the ecu wasnt even tucked away, it was under the floor mat and they just wrote "JDM...." on it haha
