Engine: If you got the money, go b-series. Maybe b16a, b18a, or b18c.
Body: Maybe a lip, duckbill.

says it has minimal surface rust but i will be doing some body work to it its auto to cuz im a new driver and have to learn to drive standard

Did you look over the car? Check everything out like tire wear, rust in the engine bay. check in the wheel wells, check for squeaky suspension. test drive it before u buy it.
Don't worry, my current and first Civic is also an auto. Gotta start somewhere.

nice honda btwNothing wrong with them but there's no VTEC. But If I was gonna go with a 2 litre. Id go with a k series.
I get a lot of my ideas from browsing through the forums, especially on how-to's.
Also, whats your budget? And are you looking for hp, cosmetics, etc.?

well i didnt get the hatchback i got a 1996 honda civic 2 door ex white needs a lil body work couple scruffs not big noticeable ones wanting to put rims on it first before anything cuz i dont got a lot of money as of right now waiting on a job to go through lol it came with a remote start which is cool to me since ive never owned anything with that well its my second car it came from the states but was aircared in bc last year so its been inspected but it runs great. took it for a drive tonight down the highway to abbotsford i live in surrey its got a sunroof which i like so yeah lol putting my stereo in it tomorrow got a jvc deck and a 12 inch pionner sub with jbl door speakers to put in cant wait to hear it

Sweet post up some pics of the ride. and personally i would just rock the steelies for now and just get coilovers or something, but thats just me. sounds like you have pretty good audio going in, I have gay sony xplod deck, 2 12in MTX substhat my father gave me(theyre like 10 years old but they are honestly like brand new still and they still sound like when my dad first got em) and 1000 watt Kenwood amp.
