dude my 95 ex has the EXACT same problem. I use a credit card though, I still have the slider piece though, I'm probably gonna just try and find a way to re-attach it. I'll let you know what I find out though. Good luck man

Same things happening with my gf's lx. Looks like it got pushed in so if you can just find a way to pull it out it'll be fine.

I have had mine apart for a lighting upgrade. I don't think you can replace just the slider "button". I have a spare one that I hacked up to get it to fit in my lower console at one point. I will see if I can dig that out of the storage in the garage and see what's up.

At the least, you are going to have to split it open to get at where the "button" attaches. It isn't fun, nor is it easy. They really had a terrible design on the way it mounts in the dash. It is also a pain to get it split apart.

Personally, I would just recommend replacing it. I got my spare one on eBay for like $10 + shipping.

I definitely understand. I did a search and couldn't really find any better than you did. I can't believe they are so high! Granted it was about a year and a half ago when I got mine, but at that time there was a couple that were around the price I got it. I don't recall paying more than $20 shipped. Don't know what the change is from then to now to make them go up in price so much.

I will keep my eye out.

I have the same problem. doesn't bother me much since i don't have ac. I would just glue the piece back on.

It won't reach the slider part behind the face to glue on to. I tried using pliers to pull it out but no go.
