Power window prob. Window doesnt go down wtf!

yea i have looked at other threads about the dumb power window problems, before you guys shoot me; my problem is not the window going up but going down!

i have 00 civic ex, i bought the car with the window messed up or whatever, i know its not the motor because the window goes down a tiny bit like enough to notice it move but not enough to create a gap for air to come in. and when i pull the button to raise the window it does raise it back to the closing position

i know its not the master control or the passenger control because like i said i can see it move just a tiny bit down then when i click on the switch on either controls.

i have took the door apart as far as to see the inside the door panel i reconnected all the cable for the regulator and motor still nothing not going down.

i have checked my fuses, still nothing


do you guys have any suggestions or have had this problem of the window not going DOWN!

the window may just have to much friction that its over powering the motor. Try silicon lube in the slots so the window slides a little easier. make sure its correctly on the track also. It could be slanted and wedges itself

Or you could have broken wires in the harness that plugs in to the edge of the door or both doors, it's the bundle of wires in a rubber boot that run from the kick panels to your doors, I had broken wires in both so I went to the junkyard & got some then carefully cut old plug off the soldered & heat shrinked the wires back, pain in the ass but worth it.

no its no the bundle of wires or else the power mirror on either side wouldnt work or my door speakers wouldnt work either, i think there might be too much friction on the window like "Civic" had said

You have a bad window regulator or the window glass is misaligned. As mentioned earlier, have you yet tried spraying some silicone lubricant into the rubber side channels that guide the glass?

Its the window regulator. there is nothing else that could be wrong with it. just replace it. they are cheap and easy. and if its not it you could keep on troubleshooting it. As you know civics have these issues. Its either off its track or the window regulator is busted.

not always true, silicon may do the trick or window needs to be realigned

ima try to realign the window first, i havent had time to try either suggestions, also i live in michigan we just got a foot of snow yesterday i really dont feel like being outside with those weather conditions thats mainly the reason

ok im bringing my dead thread back to question, i decided to mess with my untouched messed up window since today was hot as hell,

to the door apart, first thing i checked what the window alignment everything was so second thing i checked was the control switch seemed good because window regulator made some noise when i pushed on the switch,

one of my friends told me that sometime the powe window has insufficient power (electric) not allowing the window to go up or down , so i decided to inspect the cables and thats when i saw this

the previous owner must of messed with it but i dont know he was doing, ok so i tested all the cables for power the blue and red cable that connected to the yellow and red had no pwer and the greens i cut do.
so i decided to give the blue&red and yellow&red some juice by briding it to the door speaker cable just as a TEST and boom the window goes down,

no the problem is why dosent it go up, if anybody has any ideas suggestions i would really appreciate

Do you have a coupe/hatch or sedan? Does the picture show the switch connector for a passenger door? Which one?

The wire next to the Grn/Blk wire should be Blu/Orn, while the wire on the far right should be Blu/Yel. Are those two wires swapped?

2000, coupe, passenger side drivers side works but with the master control the passanger window doesnt move either, oh and i have checked all the fuses, as for the wiring thats how i bought the car wih those exact cables connect, @ronj are u saying that the connector is different or the wiring?

The wire next to the Grn/Blk wire should be Blu/Orn, while the wire on the far right should be Blu/Yel. Are those two wires swapped?

Answer this^ question. I can't see the stripe color on the Blu wire on the far right in the connector.

In addition to grounding the Blu/Red-Yel/Red wire, did you also press the passenger window switch (driver or passenger door) to the window down position to make the window move all the way down?

If you instead ground the Blu/Wht wire and press a switch to the up position, does the window move up and close?

Seems to contradict your comment above. Can you clarify?

The connector is correct. Answering the first question above will tell me whether the wiring is correct or incorrect.

sorry for my grammar and typing skills i was half asleep when typing the previous anyways,

the far right cable on the connector is blue and orange like you said.

the window is the passenger side, does not go up regardless of with control switch i use.

extra info, the only cable that has any sort of power going through it is the green&black cable on the far left
and i have not tried adding any outside power to the blue&white wire should i?

the far right cable on the connector is blue and orange like you said.

The Blu/Yel wire and Blu/Orn wire are incorrectly pinned into the connector. The positions of those two wires need to be switched in the connector.

Based on the description of your original test, you did NOT add power to the Blu/Red-Yel-Red wire -- you grounded the wire. Explain why you believe that you added power to the wire. Now try grounding the Blu/Wht wire to see whether the window moves up and closes.
