Hello I'm sorry if I'm going to sound like a noob,I own a 97 ej8,this is my first manual car,I was wondering is shifting in high rpms bad? Normally I shift at 3.5K,will takin it up to 6 or 7k kill be bad? Another question is it true the vtec will kick in at 5,600rpms? Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using Tapatalk

Its not necesarily BAD, but doing it every time you shift can cause lots of wear and strain on your engine/car. For the most part these cars were built to withstand some abuse and high revs.

Oh, and yes that's about right for VTEC on your car. Have fun!

What RPM are you shifting at?

No I'm not racing lol...I've always wanted to floor it but I was just scared to blow something lol I guess I was just being paranoid, as you can see I'm new at this lol

A lot of cars don't rev that high or aren't built to rev that high. Honda did a pretty good job with keeping the engine reliable and still having some fun with reving it. I wouldn't recommend doing it all the time or very often but it should be ok if you do take it to redline occasionally.
Most of the people that have driven my del sol or s2k don't want to rev it past like 5k cuz they think they'll blow something up.
