My buddy has had an ls vtec in his eg hatch for about 2 years, and has never had a problem with it, I have heard many good things about the ls vtec. and most depends on how you put it together and how you drive the car, and how well you take care of the engine. If you don't keep the oil checked and your hitting 8k rpm's in the drive thru, ya, your motor isn't going to last. I don't beat on my car, .and its not my dd. It's just something to get out in on the weekends, go to shows, and a few trips a heartache track. besides ls bottom ends are everywhere, you can buy a ls motor for w couple hundred bucks. so if I blow one, its no big deal. Especially considering the cost of any k series, plus the first initial cost of the swap. I can spend $400 now on ls engine and conversion kit, or a few grand on a k-swap. wiring, Linkage, axles, mounts, header, Ecu, etc... plus have a fully built b series head going to waste. and like I said, throwing an ls bottom end in mt car will let me walk all over k swapped cars for a fraction of the money.

Why would an LS/v not last?
I'll be using it for a daily driver so I want it to last and have at least a Lil more power.
Only think I liked about a K swap was the 200hp bone stock
How much does an average LS/V cost? Labor and materials?

It mainly depends on who has the parts, since mine was already an si it obviously came with a vtec head. Ls engines around here are going for $200. You can get the kit for a couple hundred bucks. I have no idea on labor, I do all the work myself. In won't take me a day to pull the engine and pit the other together and back in. It's super easy. And it will last as long as you have the right parts.

ok one more quick question.
What are the advantages of LS/V over a stock B16?
and all you need is an LS block, b16 head, and the eagle kit i believe its called, right?

It's like having a stroker kit. The b16 has a 78 mm strike and the ls has an 89 mm stroke. So higher compressionmore power, and that is all you need.,

Nice!
Hopefully yours turns out good
I read quite a few bad reviews the last couple of days and I'm a little nervous swapping that into my ride.
I think I might just go built b18c1
Safe choice plus a little more horsepower and torque than the B16

ok, so i have a new list of plans, im finishing the wire tuck, most stuff will come from rywire and downstars, im doing the fuel line, brake lines, etc... im pulling the engine, taking everything down to the metal, and replacing every nut and bolt,,, I dunno if import alliance helped me or hurt me,,, i think it helped me, but hurt is going to really hurt my wallet... but i dont plan on doing all this now, i will start sometime in november, and finish by the spring,,, it'll be at the next IA,,, but thats not all im going to focus on,,, ill make other small mods here and there... hopefully i can have my ls/vtec swap completed before im ready to drop the motor back in,,,
