not feeling the caddy lights on the cab. kinda kills the OEM mazda sport truck theme you had going IMO.

turbo mani looks AWESOME! fits like a glove and sits perfect.
thanks man. ya im stoked about the turbo mani..

and about the lights, i was very skeptical myself, but with the smaller/taller rear window, it needed something... i think u will like them once u see pics..

Agreed 100% please dont use the caddy lights...:word:
ur gonna be really mad. hope this doesnt scare u guys away from my build...

i thnk they go with a shaved body pretty well
i believe ur right my friend...

so, i got mixed reviews from everyone wanting or not wanting me to do the caddy lights, but after lots of measuring and thinking and mocking up, i decided to start cutting... lol.

first off i made templates( makes me feel like im in 2nd grade all over again)

then trying to decide on placement. this is very hard to do by urself...

then i cut them out, and then found out there is a whole lot more guts on the inside that was in the way and needed cutout, so out came the sawzall and about an hour of manipulating to get them to seat properly...

sorry about the horrible pics, but here u get an idea..

the body line will be gone around the light, and it will all be smoothed out and flush. they will look like theyre supposed to be there when its all said and done..

and here it is after trimming the bucket up to make them flush fitting with the cab wall...

now, that was the easy side... now i just gotta make the other side be in the exact same spot and level and all that fun shiit...

crudely set in after rough cutting...

and this is where i ended up stopping... not a bad mod. took me about three hours to get to the point. i will still need to box in and trim the buckets a bit, and then weld them in and smooth them out a bit, but all in all i am very happy with them.

they actually dont look out of place at all, and i think they flow very well with the lines of the window and the cab!

hopefully get some more work done soon. was supposed to be off this week, but ended up having to work everyday so far, so havent gotten much accomplished...

i hope u guys dont hate the lights and will still tune in for more! i promise its only gonna get better!

they look better than i thought they would. nothing "scares" me away, its a custom truck so i half expect random things like this. they do have the same basic arch on them that the cab has, which is pretty cool. as always your work is amazing... keep it up big guy!

Not going to lie.. but at first when I saw you holding the lights up I was like, "oh dear god that's one hideous piece of s**t"

But not that you cut out the body and have them semi-mounted into place.. I think I might actually like them :thumbs up
Awaiting the finished look to get a better feel for them... =)

well, i got a kinda sorta day off from work(well, i didnt get called in atleast), so i put in a good day on the truck. didnt get as much done as i wanted, but it hard to do some of this stuff by urself, so its slow going...

on to the pics...

so i started off the day working on the steering so i can get this thing out of my garage and into the sun!

started by strapping in the steering column to get placement right. the strap is there so the superglue can dry thats holding the column to the firewall....

then during this part of the operation, i get a call from the guy building my turbo manifold. i had seen him earlier that morning at breakfast with my wife and had told him if he got it welded up that day that i would make the 30 minute drive to his house to come get it. so he calls me and tells me its done!

i drive to his house, and pick it up, and heres the pic when i layed it in my back seat for transport! i will be using header wrap on this do to the high heat, but itll do the job!

so then i went home and got back to work on getting the steering in and the dash mounted properly...

definitely hard to line the dash up and figure out spacing and such by myself...

man, i really need a new steering wheel, and i couldnt find the turn signal selectors and such, so i ended up doing a bit of organizing in my garage...

still never found them, so i may have to buy new ones lol...

more pics of the mani after i took it out of the truck and tucked it into bed...

definitely worth the wait for the beautiful tig welds...

starting to take shape...

i got the dash in where i want it, so i started fitting the door panels...

i think these things r gonna look nice, but its gonna take a lot of fiberglass to make them look right, then i will rewrap them in matching vinyl and build sheetmetal door skins!
also been lookin into power windows, so more on that later!

sorry about the blurry pics...

i will be able to use the rx& door handles and everything! so stoked on this!

this is where its gonna get interesting, but ill get it lookin clean and factory by the time its done dont worry!

TURBO!

then i clocked it. trying to figure out my intercooler situation. guess its time for a new bov also...

clearance is gonna be tight!

turbo is bigger than the damm engine...

whoring out my turbo... if u cant tell im happy...

running radiator hoses is gonna be fun...

random pics with the dash in...

and more random manifold pics...

is that steering close enough for ya?

hopefully get some more done on this beast this week!

stay tuned!

That is a custom one off turbo manifold!

And as for clearance... the trucks frame lays on the ground, and so do the bottom of the doors...

I get about a foot of lift for driving and getting on a trailer!
