Hi,

I'm an audio noob so I have no idea at what numbers on the equipment mean aside from frequency range.

I currently have a Sony Deck that says on the box that it is 4x52W

In front I have xplod speakers where the box said 280W

Rear I have the stock honda speakers + pioneer speakers connected in parallel (100 Watts)

http://www.usedsoo.com/classified-ad/100-watt-pioneer-speakers_15493311 (pioneer speakers).

I currently want to add VISONIK Davidactives rated at 30W connected in parallel to the front speakers. I don't have a problem with wiring, but I have no clue on power, amps or any of those.

If any of you could advise me, please do.

For starters, Visonic is one of the WORST sounding speakers available. Second, toss those pioneer speakers. House Audio in cars = NO. As for wattage to each speaker, its really no something your gonna worry about with your setup. More speakers doesn't equal better sound. Save a few dollars and order some nice aftermarket speakers. Here's a budget setup that will sound great.

6.5's For the front:

6x9's For the rear:

You could do it for cheaper, but Cadence is a higher end brand. Much better than anything your gonna find for the same price. Their well worth the few extra dollars. Just make sure when installing them, that they are all in the right phase (all speakers positives & negatives are wired properly)

Well, I just figured that those speakers were better than the rear stock ones, and I just have these speakers laying around at home, but I'm not really considering getting new ones...

But power-wise, can you explain on what 4x52W means? Against the wattage power that is shown on speaker boxes?

But WOW those speakers look nice o______o

4x52w means that each of the 4 channels (front left/right & rear left/right) have a maximum output of 52 watts.

So... if the speakers said 280W on the box, does that mean it isn't powered enough? or is this peak power?

that is a sales pitch. it could handle 280 watts for like .5 secondsb4 they blow. always look at RMS wattage. RMS wattage is the average constant wattage the speakers handle comfortably. Same with your 4x52. Thats peak wattage. But it's all useless. just buy speakers you like and run them. Underpowering them won't hurt them at all.

Ohh thanks!. Might get the cadence rear ones you showed me too. Just gotta find a seller here in Canada to avoid shipping or stuff.
My next problem is to find the stuff that rattles when the songs hit deep bass notes.

Btw, how do you check for the polarity of the wires? All that I was told was "If it doesn't sound right, then its wrong." But I tried them both ways but seemed to be the same though.

With the car off, go behind your head unit, use a 9 volt battery on your harness. go through each set of speaker wires and power them with the battery. Put the batt positive on the speaker positive wire & the ground on the speaker negative. If the speaker pushes outward, its good. if it sucks in, your wiring behind the speaker is backwards. (i usually label the ground wires behind all the speakers with a flag of electrical tape to avoid confusion if i ever change out speakers .)

I would definitely invest in the speakers. Their a common size and can be moved to your next ride. Besta luck!

Can I just use a volt meter? And thanks!

No budget, just stuff I found around home. Maybe in the future though when I deem the audio to be insufficient.
